Fiesta de los Reyes is Coming: A Concert to Celebrate and Give to Puerto Rico

South Valley musicians join with Musica y Danza Borinqueña de Utah to celebrate and benefit Puerto Rico on December 15th at 7:30 p.m. at South Valley UU Society in our sanctuary.

This autumn, we have watched the tragedy of Hurricane Maria unfold before us. The wind and rain caused damage that will take years to rebuild and recover. On top of the physical damage, the people of Puerto Rico received a message that they were not part of our American family from the highest places of this land. Let us gather and learn about our sisters and brothers to weave them into the fabric of this country. We will sing them into our lives as we join one of the most joyful festivals in Puerto Rico: the Fiesta de los Reyes, the festival of the kings. All funds will be given to a Puerto Rican agency to distribute as they see fit. We will also have a table for writing messages of love to heal hearts.
Musica y Danza Borinqueña de Utah·will join us. They are Utah’s own Puerto Rican music and dance performance team. Established 9/2017 by Meilynne Garcia Piatt, Miriam Padilla Vargas, and Jose Angel Santiago. Their music and dance highlights the beauty of the Puerto Rican culture and helps educate communities around Utah about the rich history and musical traditions.  After the concert, Travis Potter will be the DJ for dancing music!
