“Mountain priests traveling to our doors.” Our service at 10:30 a.m. on January 7th

On freezing winter mornings, the priests of the Zen temple on the outskirts of the city walked around our neighborhood beating a drum and standing at each door. They were part of a long tradition of traveling monks and poets. This Sunday, I will recount experiences with Buddhist pilgrims in Japan and our own traveling student of Buddhism, Bob Speiser, who has found our community on his journey, will speak of Buddhism in the West. Mary Lou Prince will play new music for the koto, joined by Katharine Peterson on violin and Travis Potter on the guitar. Come, take a deep breath and be transported into another time and place that is right here among us.
